This high-quality, large-scale coffee table book tells the amazing story of the RAF, one of Britain’s most revered institutions, from its inception in 1918 to the present day. The story is told through fascinating archive materials from the RAF Museum and a rich photographic record of the air force’s past, present and future.
Researched, written and designed to the highest of standards, this fully illustrated book is packed with breath-taking photography and stories from an institution that has helped shape the world as we know it. The book commemorates the achievements of those who have served, recognises the commitment of today’s RAF servicemen and servicewomen, and provides inspiration to the next generation.
Vulcan XH558 features in an image in chapter one, which commemorates the 'origins and early years', 'the Second World War', 'the Cold War' and 'the modern era'. The book describes the technological advances in air warfare seeing the arrival of the V-force during the Cold War. The images shows XH558 flying alongside XH557 over RAF Flyingdales early warning site on the North Yorkshire Moors.
The book finishes on the back cover displaying the RAF motto "Per ardua ad astra" which translates as "Through adversity to the stars".
This official centenary album is a timeless keepsake, honouring the commitment and bravery of all those who have worn air force blue. It’s a must have for fans of aviation and history alike.
