Diamond Anniversary Name Plaques - Coming Soon
When the opportunity to have a name under the wing of Vulcan XH558 began last year, before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we intended to unveil the name plaques under XH558’s wing on 1 July 2020. When the lockdown happened we hoped that restrictions would have lifted in time to apply the plaques on the planned date. Sadly, like the rest of the UK and the world, we had no idea the impact the virus would have on the health of the nation and the world.
Unfortunately due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic we had to delay the date to apply and unveil the names under the wing for the Diamond Anniversary of XH558`s First Test Flight. In June we emailed everyone who bought a name under the wing, to advise of the delay.
As soon as we have completed the planning to fit the new name plaques, while working with all the measures applied to keep people safe, we will advise everyone who has placed a name under the wing.
Sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by this delay.
The Vulcan to the Sky team
This year marks the 60th Anniversary of XH558's first test flight, on 25 May 1960. To celebrate this Diamond Anniversary we're offering you the chance to have your name under the wing and become part of her history.
For a £30 donation you will be honoured with a name on XH558’s Wing, together with a named certificate confirming this, which becomes a collectable keepsake and is also ideal as a gift to a relative or friend.
This represents a great opportunity to dedicate a name in memory of a loved one, or a member of the family who served in the V-Force, the RAF or other armed forces. Perhaps a family member who was employed by Avro or has another connection with Vulcans or aviation over their lifetime? Or possibly someone you know who has huge enthusiasm for the Vulcan?
Your name will be written discreetly on the underside of XH558’s Wing on a special 'Diamond Anniversary of the First Test Flight’ commemorative plaque.
We have allocated areas on the wing, upon which we will apply plaques made up of the names in small lettering, recognising the 60th anniversary of XH558's first test flight on 25 May 1960. This remarkable aircraft went on to become the first Vulcan B.Mk2 to commence RAF service on 1 July 1960.
Only visible upon close viewing, the plaques will not detract from the aesthetic appearance of the aircraft and will remain in place for her lifetime, being replaced if the surfaces are painted in future.
Your donation will be a contribution towards the work of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust in safeguarding XH558 and promoting all she stands for.
Your kind support will also be recognised with a personalised certificate, which will be posted to you.
Please make sure you specify the name required on each certificate
and please double-check spelling.
What we receive will be the name entered on the certificate and placed on the aircraft.
A name will be honoured for every £30 donation.
Thank you for your donation!
When the artwork is applied you will be able to see a listing of the names together with photographs.
Please note: A £2 postage cost will be applied to your order. This covers the admin and postage cost of your certificate, ensuring the maximum benefit of your donation reaches us.
If you are a UK taxpayer then, at no cost to you, we can reclaim 25% of all your donations. Thus every donation of £30 you give to XH558 can become £37.50.
By selecting Yes in the drop-down box above you allow us to claim. If you are ineligible please select No, sorry in the drop-down box.
